Ripple's CEO Issues Urgent Warning as Holiday Scams Rise
Brad Garlinghouse warns users to stay alert for online scams during the holiday season and highlights collaborations with major firms to promote online safety.
With the end-of-year celebrations approaching, Brad Garlinghouse cautioned everyone to be wary of suspicious online activities, as scammers often increase their efforts during this busy period, expecting that victims may remain silent.
He has recently delivered various warnings regarding the surge of scams targeting Ripple’s cryptocurrency, XRP.
Be Aware
Garlinghouse commended the website Scamberrypie, which offers resources to help individuals protect themselves from online scams. He highlighted that Ripple is collaborating with major companies, including Match Group, Cash App, National Cryptocurrency Association, and Coinbase, to disseminate safety information widely.
“This Christmas, stay vigilant! Check out this link for more information on how to safeguard yourself and your loved ones from online scams. Proud to partner with Match Group, Cash App, National Cryptocurrency Association, and Coinbase on this initiative.” — Brad Garlinghouse (@bgarlinghouse)
The data indicates that in 2025, 57% of adults faced at least one attempted scam, with 23% having money taken by fraudsters. Alarmingly, 20% of those defrauded did not report the incidents, and the total amount stolen approaches $450 billion.
Some significant warning signs of online scams include:
- Urgent deadlines,
- Compliments and flattery,
- Impressive investment promises,
- Non-reversible payments.
XRP YouTube Videos
Garlinghouse has been especially vocal on this matter in recent months, particularly as XRP has gained traction following last year’s elections. He has repeatedly alerted the community about the proliferation of fake YouTube videos urging viewers to send XRP to specific addresses with false promises of returns.
He reiterated that the Ripple team will never request any user to transfer assets or provide wallet details for investment streaming. He also advised individuals to thoroughly verify the sources of dubious videos before engaging with them.
