Former Coinbase developers introduce Patchwork, a new platform aimed at simplifying blockchain application creation.

Next Steps in No-Code Blockchain Solutions by Former Coinbase Developers

Patchwork is an innovative platform developed by a team of former Coinbase employees, aimed at facilitating the creation of decentralized applications (dapps) without the need for extensive coding skills.

Overview

  • Patchwork provides tools to transfer ownership of in-game assets, verify the audit status of smart contracts, and assign reputation scores for security.
  • This technology is integrated with Coinbase’s Ethereum layer-2 network, Base, and receives investment from Coinbase Ventures.

Patchwork introduces a “Create-Patchwork” method that efficiently lowers barriers for developers looking to build blockchain applications and associate data with them.

“Patchwork is an Ethereum protocol that makes it really easy to build dynamic on-chain applications,” said Kevin Day, the co-founder. He elaborated on how it enables the association of programmable data with on-chain entities.

Moreover, Patchwork supports various applications, such as:

  • Linking on-chain ownership to valuable gaming items like weapons.
  • Flagging audited smart contracts and adding markers for their reliability.

Future Plans

Kevin Day emphasized that Create-Patchwork is just the beginning. The Patchwork team is set to introduce additional features in early 2025, leading the charge toward no-code application development using natural language inputs.

This is part of a growing trend towards user-friendly solutions that simplify complex blockchain technologies, aiming to make participation in the Web3 space accessible to a wider audience.
