Adam Back Critiques VC for Spreading Unfounded Quantum Fears

Blockstream's CEO Adam Back expressed disapproval of Nic Carter's claims regarding quantum threats to Bitcoin, stating they only spread panic.

Blockstream CEO Adam Back has voiced his concerns over Nic Carter of Castle Island Ventures, who he accused of spreading panic regarding quantum risks to Bitcoin.

“You’re not helping,” Back asserted in a recent statement on X, addressing Carter’s remarks on their investment in Project Eleven, a firm aimed at defending Bitcoin against potential quantum threats.
“You make uninformed noise and try to move the market or something.”

Carter countered by suggesting that many within the Bitcoin community remain in denial about quantum threats. Back reaffirmed the community’s commitment to addressing these risks quietly without public alarm.

Carter, who had previously noted his investment decision was influenced by Project Eleven CEO Alex Pruden, expressed his grave concerns about quantum computing, suggesting it represents a considerable risk to blockchain technology.

“I put capital behind my convictions, always have,” Carter described his commitment, emphasizing the necessity for vigilance against quantum computing advances.

Back is not alone in his views; other significant figures worry about the immediate risks that quantum computing could bring to Bitcoin, forecasting potential threats within just two to nine years unless the network advances its cryptography.

Regard this ongoing discussion as a crucial part of the Bitcoin community’s efforts to prepare for upcoming challenges, ensuring that they stay one step ahead of technological advancements.
