X to Launch 'Starterpacks' for Crypto Enthusiasts

Social platform X announces a new feature enabling users to follow curated accounts focused on cryptocurrencies and more.

Social media platform X is set to introduce a new onboarding feature known as Starterpacks, designed to help new users quickly follow tailored lists of accounts based on specific interests, including cryptocurrencies. This move aims to streamline the user experience on the platform.

Nikita Bier, head of product at X, shared that the feature will go live in a few weeks and has involved several months of work to identify and assemble the leading accounts across more than 1,000 categories.

In a shared video, the feature covers a broad range of topics such as technology, business, news, and more. Specific categories highlighted include memecoin trading and influential personalities.

“Over the last few months, we scoured the world for the top posters in every niche & country. We’ve compiled them into a new tool called Starterpacks: to help new users find the best accounts — big or small — for their interests.” — Nikita Bier

Concerns have arisen regarding declining user engagement on Crypto X, highlighted by Jameson Lopp, who recently cited data showing a 32% drop in X posts related to Bitcoin in 2025.

Addressing User Engagement

Bier noted that account growth remains a significant challenge for the app. The real allure of X is realized when users engage with niche topics rather than just the mainstream content.

“However, X is an interest-based graph, you can’t simply sync your contacts and have a relevant feed. Power users have spent years finding accounts and curating their timelines.”

The Concept of Starterpacks

The Starterpack notion isn’t unique to X, as other social media platforms have embraced similar features. For instance, the decentralized platform Bluesky introduced a version of Starter Packs for users in June 2024. Meanwhile, Threads, a competitor to X, began testing a comparable feature in December 2024.
