Latest Highlights on Cardano (ADA) Ecosystem - January 22nd
Discover the advancements and significant events within the Cardano ecosystem as of January 22nd.
Cardano has evolved into a sophisticated ecosystem that extends well beyond its primary token, ADA. The following summarization highlights significant recent developments in this ecosystem.
The Roadmap
Last year, the Cardano Foundation unveiled the latest phase of its roadmap, comprising six key points. Recently, CEO Frederik Gregaard announced that the team has achieved the initial milestone in this endeavor.
Specifically, the Cardano Foundation allocated an additional 220 million ADA (approximately $80 million) to 11 delegated representatives, who focus on promoting adoption and enhancing operations.
This latest action raises the total delegation to community DReps to 360 million tokens, which is considered “a testament to our belief in distributing voting power to bolster the resilience and diversity of thought within the Cardano ecosystem.”
Gregaard highlighted that the team will revise the self-delegation strategy to ensure all Foundation assets actively participate in governance. This initiative is seen as “a demonstration of trust” intended to strengthen the community as a whole. Notable DReps include Ha-Nguyen, Florian Volery, Phillerino, Martin Lang, and Pooltool.
Midnight’s Progress
Midnight, Cardano’s privacy-focused sidechain, was launched in December 2022, and its native token is called NIGHT. Recently, AlphaTON Capital—a firm involved in projects within the Telegram ecosystem—partnered with the Midnight Foundation to advance the development and adoption of the Midnight network.
The collaboration signifies the inaugural integration of a zero-knowledge blockchain within the Telegram framework, allowing AlphaTON Capital to deliver privacy-preserving AI products to nearly one billion Telegram users.
“The next significant leap for the Internet isn’t speed or content, but the restoration of personal agency. Utility should not be sacrificed for the sake of privacy and ownership… This partnership exemplifies how decentralized technology can be scaled to satisfy real-world demands,” stated Fahmi Syed, President of the Midnight Foundation.
Moreover, eToro has recently begun offering trading services for the NIGHT token. Other notable exchanges offering this token include Bybit and HTX. However, NIGHT has experienced a 22% decline in value over the last month, with its market capitalization falling below $1 billion.
ADA Price Outlook
Currently, Cardano’s native token has not been performing well, consistent with the broader market’s bearish trend amid global geopolitical tensions. At the time of writing, ADA is priced around $0.36, reflecting an 11% decrease over the past week.
Despite this, optimism remains among analysts. For example, Marcus Corvinus has predicted a potential increase to the $0.53 resistance level if the demand zone around $0.33-$0.36 holds. Recently, Cardano whales amassed over 200 million tokens, which may be a bullish indicator for an upcoming rally.
