Grocery Giveaways Spark Rivalry Between Polymarket and Kalshi

Polymarket and Kalshi, leaders in prediction markets, are engaging in a grocery giveaway battle as their trading volumes surge.

Two prominent platforms in the prediction market sector, Polymarket and Kalshi, have turned their attention to grocery giveaways as they strive for supremacy in this rapidly expanding market.
Kalshi recently ran a promotional event offering a $50 grocery giveaway to over 1,000 participants in Manhattan, while Polymarket intends to launch a free grocery store next week.

Kalshi and Polymarket have emerged as leaders in the prediction markets, with daily trading volumes recently exceeding $400 million, marking a significant increase from last year. Kalshi generated $263.5 million in fee revenue in 2025, while both platforms boast multibillion-dollar valuations following substantial integrations.
The Kalshi event took place at the Westside Market in Manhattan from 12 PM to 3 PM, with social media videos depicting lines stretching for blocks.
According to Kalshi’s list, 1,795 individuals registered to receive free groceries, although media reports suggest “thousands” attended.

Polymarket to Launch “The Polymarket” Store

Polymarket announced on Tuesday that it has signed a lease for “New York’s first free grocery store” and has donated $1 million to Food Bank for NYC to support residents with limited access to food across all five boroughs.

“Free groceries. Free markets. Built for the people who power New York.”

Both platforms have been actively forming media partnerships, with Polymarket collaborating with Dow Jones in January and Kalshi linking up with CNN and CNBC in December. Polymarket has launched campaigns featuring billboards designed to be vandalized, while Kalshi is utilizing digital billboards to showcase various market odds.
Note: Both Polymarket and Kalshi are headquartered in NYC, where these grocery initiatives are occurring. New York City is widely recognized as the financial capital of the world, home to both the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.
