Ethereum Expected to Outperform Bitcoin in 2025
According to a report released by Steno Research on Sunday, Ethereum (ETH), the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, is likely to outpace its larger competitor, Bitcoin (BTC), in terms of performance in 2025, drawing from historical data and Donald Trump's recent electoral success.
The report suggests Bitcoin might achieve a price of at least $150,000 in 2025, up from approximately $94,000 currently. In contrast, Ethereum could surpass $8,000 from its current value of about $3,400.
Steno anticipates that the ether/bitcoin price ratio will increase to 0.06 from its current 0.0357, reflecting previous market behaviors.
The firm also emphasizes a focus on altcoins in 2025, forecasting a decline in Bitcoin's market dominance from about 56.6% to as low as 45%. Steno estimates the total value locked in decentralized applications could soar to $300 billion by next year, further indicating heightened altcoin valuations.
Furthermore, the anticipated launch of new cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the U.S. reinforces the positive outlook for altcoins.
As stated in the report, "2025 will witness institutional adoption of crypto on an unprecedented scale."
