Nikita Bier, the head of product at X, revealed plans for the introduction of in-app trading for stocks and cryptocurrencies within the platform during a recent post. This feature is part of the new Smart Cashtags, allowing users to trade assets directly from their timeline.
“We are launching a number of features in a couple of weeks, including Smart Cashtags that will enable you to trade stocks and crypto directly from the timeline,” Bier stated in an X post.
Previously, a basic Cashtag system introduced in 2022 had tracked the prices of stocks and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ether but was later discontinued.
Cointelegraph reached out to X for further information, though no response was provided at the time of publication.
The upcoming feature aligns closely with Elon Musk’s vision for X, aiming to evolve into an “everything app” inspired by WeChat’s integrated services.
Elon Musk also mentioned in a recent update that the X Money payments feature is set to be rolled out after a limited beta testing phase, further incorporating financial transactions into the platform.
“This is intended to be the place where all money is. The central source of all monetary transactions,” Musk expressed.
