Vitalik Buterin Offloads More ETH While Prices Remain Below $2,000
Ethereum's co-founder, Vitalik Buterin, has been liquidating substantial amounts of ETH in recent weeks.
On-chain data from Arkham Intelligence and Lookonchain revealed that Vitalik Buterin has resumed his ETH selling spree with another significant transaction. Analysts indicated that he withdrew a further 3,500 ETH (approximately $7 million) from Aave, likely with the intention of selling the assets. Earlier in the day, he had already sold 571 ETH for about $1.13 million.

CryptoPotato noted several similar instances in February where on-chain data indicated that he had started selling parts of his ETH holdings. A report from February 5 detailed that he had sold 2,961 ETH (valued at $6.6 million) within just three days. Subsequent reports indicated total sales had risen to 6,183 ETH, worth an estimated $13.2 million, with an average selling price of $2,140.
Arkham Intelligence continues to monitor Buterin’s wallet activity. Earlier this week, it noted that he still possessed over 240,000 ETH, valued at about $467 million as of that report. However, this data was pre the latest sales.
Meanwhile, ETH’s market price has been steadily declining for months. After peaking near $5,000 in late August last year, it faced a significant backlash, ending 2025 at around $3,000. A crash in late January and early February saw ETH drop below $1,800.

Despite some recovery, ETH continues to hover below $2,000. Noted analyst Ali Martinez recently discussed a potential bullish flag formation, but warned that the inverted chart suggests a likely dip to under $1,400.
