Winklevoss Twins Transfer Bitcoin Again: Arkham Highlights Major BTC Move to Gemini

The Winklevoss twins are reportedly transferring a significant amount of Bitcoin to their crypto exchange, Gemini, amid rising profits.

The Winklevoss twins, known for their advocacy for Zcash and Cypherpunk, have made headlines again by transferring a substantial amount of Bitcoin to Gemini, the cryptocurrency exchange they established ten years ago.

According to Arkham’s analytics, a transfer of $130 million to Gemini’s hot wallets was executed, presumably for the sake of selling.

The Winklevosses once possessed 1% of the total circulating Bitcoin supply and maintain a holding valued at $764 million. Their current profits and losses on Bitcoin are recorded at approximately $1.8 billion, as per Arkham’s data.

Past records suggest that the twins embarked on their Bitcoin investment journey in 2011, acquiring $11 million worth at $120 per unit following their legal victory against Mark Zuckerberg, which supplied them with $65 million in cash and Facebook shares.

Despite selling part of their investments to promote Gemini, the Winklevoss twins’ profits on Bitcoin are still overwhelmingly significant.

In addition to their business ventures, the twins have made notable donations, such as substantial Bitcoin transfers to Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, driven by a belief in his pro-crypto stance.

As advocates for increased privacy within the crypto sector, their recent focus has shifted towards Cypherpunk, a company dedicated to self-governance.

Additional Information

In their original statement, the twins emphasized their commitment to accumulating and supporting privacy-focused assets and technology, especially in a time of increasing importance.

A recent press release from Cypherpunk Technologies indicated that the company has invested $5 million in the Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL), marking its first significant investment outside the ZEC sphere.
