Trader Earns $67K After UFC Mistake in Announcing Fight Result

A Polymarket trader made a significant profit by betting on the correct winner after the UFC mistakenly announced the wrong fighter.

A trader on Polymarket took a unique opportunity to transform $676 into $67,608 by leveraging a rare mix-up during a UFC heavyweight match where the wrong competitor was mistakenly announced as the victor.

The trader, using the username LlamaEnjoyer on Polymarket and known as Verrissimus on X, was following the live contest between Tyrell Fortune and Marcin Tybura. They quickly suspected an error when UFC host Bruce Buffer declared Tybura as the winner.

At that point, shares for Fortune plummeted to one cent, and LlamaEnjoyer executed the $676 wager just before Buffer rectified the error by confirming Fortune as the legitimate winner.

This slip-up enabled LlamaEnjoyer to realize a profit of approximately $67,000, marking a return close to 100 times the investment.

Almost a $100,000 Investment Mistake

In reflection, the Polymarket trader shared on X that they contemplated placing a $100,000 bet on Tybura at 99 cents, likely at the time the initial outcome was announced, before realizing that something was amiss.

“Cancelled my order, scooped up 1c shares instead. the UFC corrected the winner seconds later. easiest 100x ever.”

The trader confirmed placing the trade prior to a UFC commentator’s statement about the error, indicating that the bet occurred within 50 seconds of Tybura being incorrectly announced the winner.
