Bitcoin Surges Past $76,000 as Stellar Soars by 7%: Market Overview

A roundup of the latest movements within the cryptocurrency market, as Bitcoin climbs and Stellar shows significant gains.

The cryptocurrency market has seen a revival in the past 24 hours, with many of the top digital currencies reporting gains.

Bitcoin (BTC) has surged to over $76,000, while notable altcoins like Stellar (XLM) and Toncoin (TON) led the daily performance charts.

Bitcoin on the Rise Again

Bitcoin has encountered increased volatility recently, primarily due to geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Last week, its value almost reached $78,000 after US President Trump claimed the Strait of Hormuz was reopened. This was followed by assertions that Iran would pause its nuclear plans, although the country refuted these claims, causing BTC’s price to dip below $74,000 on Monday, April 20.

In the last 24 hours, Bitcoin rebounded, and it’s currently trading around $76,400 according to CoinGecko. This is up 2% for the day and has shown an impressive 11% growth over the past two weeks.

Notably, this upswing follows a significant purchase by Strategy, led by Michael Saylor, which acquired 34,164 BTC for approximately $2.5 billion, raising their total holdings to 815,061 BTC.

With the recent rally, Bitcoin’s market cap exceeds $1.5 trillion, maintaining about 57.4% dominance over altcoins.

Stellar Leads Altcoin Rally

Other altcoins have mirrored Bitcoin’s positive momentum with Stellar (XLM) leading the pack, climbing 7% to a monthly high of $0.18. Toncoin (TOM), Mantle (MNT), and MemeCore (M) have also seen gains in the range of 5-6%, while major coins like Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) only posted 1-2% increases. Conversely, coins such as Rain (RAIN) and Pi Network (PI) recorded losses between 2-5%.

The total market cap of cryptocurrencies has risen by 2% in the last day, sitting at about $2.6 trillion.
