MicroStrategy and Metaplanet Aim for Billions in Bitcoin Purchases as BTC Approaches $100K

MicroStrategy and Metaplanet are set to invest billions in Bitcoin as the cryptocurrency prices rise towards six figures.

Two major corporate holders of Bitcoin, MicroStrategy and Metaplanet, are looking to expand their Bitcoin (BTC) holdings.

According to their recent announcements, MicroStrategy intends to raise up to $2 billion through preferred stock offerings aimed at further Bitcoin acquisitions in early 2025.
In Japan, Metaplanet aims to purchase 10,000 Bitcoin (worth almost $1 billion at current prices) this year as part of its strategy to increase Bitcoin adoption.

“In 2025, we aim to expand our Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC by utilizing the most accretive capital market tools available to us,” CEO Simon Gerovich stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"We will leverage our partnerships to advance Bitcoin adoption in Japan and globally, while exploring innovative opportunities to enhance Metaplanet’s impact."

Translation:
“In 2025, we aim to expand our Bitcoin holdings to 10,000 BTC by utilizing the most effective financial tools available to us,” said CEO Simon Gerovich in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“We will leverage our partnerships to promote Bitcoin adoption in Japan and around the world, while seeking innovative ways to enhance Metaplanet’s influence.”

Also noted was MicroStrategy’s significant Bitcoin treasury, valued at $44 billion, and their involvement in a $2 billion capital raise as part of a larger plan to accumulate $21 billion each in equity and fixed-income instruments over three years.

Bitcoin is currently trading above $99,700, nearing the $100,000 mark amid a surge in option markets.
