Vivek Ramaswamy Steps Away From DOGE Leadership, Eyes Ohio Governorship

Vivek Ramaswamy has confirmed his departure from the leadership of DOGE, with plans to launch a campaign for the Ohio governorship.

Former presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy has officially announced that he is stepping down as co-leader of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an organization he co-founded with Elon Musk.

Current reports indicate that Ramaswamy is gearing up to pursue the governorship of Ohio, a trajectory that aligns with the recent buzz stemming from his social media engagements.

“It was my honor to help support the creation of DOGE,” said Ramaswamy in a post on X dated January 20, 2025. “I’m confident that Elon and the team will succeed in streamlining government.”

Ramaswamy’s Campaign Plans

While he has not formally confirmed his gubernatorial ambitions, sources such as CBS News and The New York Times suggest that an announcement is imminent.

Established through an executive order by former President Donald Trump, DOGE’s mission includes cutting federal spending and enhancing government efficiency through budget adjustments and workforce restructuring.

Anna Kelly, a spokesperson for DOGE, has validated Ramaswamy’s exit, stating, “He intends to run for elected office soon, which demands his stepping away from DOGE as per our recent announcement.”

In this political landscape, Ramaswamy’s path could potentially target the seat of incumbent Governor Mike DeWine, whose second term concludes in January 2027.

Speculation and Influence

Speculation intensified when Ramaswamy amplified a parody post hinting at his intention to run for governor, remarking it wasn’t “a bad idea.”

Nonetheless, rumors suggest that Musk’s preference for a leadership change partly prompted Ramaswamy’s exit from DOGE, particularly in the context of Ramaswamy’s assertive comments on cultural issues that have reportedly strained relationships within the organization.

Continued challenges await as Musk takes the reins of DOGE amid unexpected scrutiny concerning its ambitious objectives and legal hurdles.

SEC’s Legal Actions Against Musk

In related news, the SEC has filed a lawsuit against Musk over his acquisition of a significant stake in Twitter, claiming he delayed his disclosure to secure lower stock prices.
