Key Information
- Crypto exchange Kraken has secured a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license in the European Union.
- The acquisition of a Cypriot investment firm enabled Kraken to gain this license from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC).
- This license permits Kraken to offer crypto derivatives products across 27 EU nations.
Kraken’s license acquisition is a strategic step in its expansion across Europe. Previously, the exchange bought Crypto Facilities, a crypto futures platform regulated by the FCA in the UK, in 2019.
