Bitcoin Creator Reveal Odds Shift Ahead of HBO Documentary

A recent HBO documentary update has shifted the betting odds regarding the identity of Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, notably impacting the late Len Sassaman's candidacy.

Recent updates surrounding an upcoming HBO documentary have shifted the betting landscape regarding the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the enigmatic creator of Bitcoin.

New information over the weekend changed public perception about who might be revealed in the documentary. Notably, Len Sassaman appeared to have lost traction as a frontrunner.

  • The odds for Sassaman being named in the documentary plummeted to 14%, after his wife, Meredith L. Patterson, clarified that he is not involved and was not consulted for the documentary.
  • Originally, betting markets had placed Sassaman's likelihood at 55% over the weekend. However, following an interview published by DLNews, the odds shifted significantly.

At the same time, early speculation around Sassaman had generated numerous memecoins named after him, leading many to seek confirmation from Patterson, who some contacted for token donations.

Among other candidates, businessman Samsow Mow suggested that Adam Back, the CEO of Blockstream, could be identified as Nakamoto, although Back dismissed Mow's assertions as mere jest.

Despite ongoing speculation, no definitive information has surfaced confirming any individual as Satoshi, causing multiple candidates to vie for betting dollars on Polymarket. As of the latest updates, "Other/Multiple" presents clear odds of over 56%, overtaking Sassaman's 13%.
