CZ Advises Bybit to Suspend Withdrawals After $1.5B Breach

Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance, suggests Bybit should pause withdrawals following a significant security incident.

Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance, has recommended that Bybit suspend its withdrawals following a major security breach amounting to $1.5 billion. In a message on the platform X, Zhao stated:

“Not an easy situation to deal with. Might suggest to halt all withdrawals for a bit as a standard security precaution. Will provide any assistance if needed. Good luck.”

Zhao further mentioned:

“1.5 billion is fear enough. Better to be safe than sorry now.”

Current data from Arkham shows Bybit still maintains $20 billion in assets, with CEO Ben Zhou confirming that the exchange is solvent despite this loss. Additionally, ZachXBT noted that the hacker has begun redistributing the stolen funds, with two batches of 10,000 ETH transferred to various wallets.

Tron founder Justin Sun also expressed support, stating their commitment to assist Bybit in tracking the stolen assets.
