Aya Miyaguchi (宮口あや) is a prominent figure in the cryptocurrency realm, recently transitioning from Executive Director to President of the Ethereum Foundation in a bid to enhance Ethereum’s price stability and growth.

Miyaguchi’s inspiring journey reflects her diverse experiences in education, traditional finance, and decentralized finance (DeFi). Her story illustrates how varied background can greatly influence future advancements in crypto technology.

Born in Japan, she initially worked as a high school teacher, and later pursued advanced studies in the United States, leading her to discover blockchain technology in 2011. She later joined Kraken as the managing director of its Japan operations and was instrumental in promoting awareness and understanding of cryptocurrency among various stakeholders.

Miyaguchi’s leadership in the Ethereum community began when she was invited to join as Executive Director in 2018, during which she managed significant upgrades like Ethereum’s transition to proof-of-stake known as “The Merge”.
