Belarus Explores Cryptocurrency Mining Amid U.S. Reserve Plans

Belarusian President Lukashenko is considering leveraging excess energy for crypto mining, following the U.S. government's potential crypto reserve establishment.

The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, mentioned the potential for the nation to start mining cryptocurrencies. He stated:

“Look at this mining. More and more people are turning to me. If it is profitable for us, let’s do it. We have excess electricity. Let them make this cryptocurrency and so on,”

  • Lukashenko to Minister of Energy Alexei Kushnarenko.

This statement follows the U.S. government’s examination of the possibility of establishing a national strategic crypto reserve that may include currencies like bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH).

Belarus is not alone in considering cryptocurrency mining; countries like Bhutan and El Salvador already utilize renewable energy sources for this purpose.
