Taproot Wizards Launches Auction for Signature NFTs After Two-Year Wait

The Taproot Wizards, initially inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain, are set for a significant NFT auction later this month.

What to know:

  • The Taproot Wizards will auction 2,121 NFTs of their signature “magic internet JPEGs” later this month.
  • These Wizards were originally inscribed on the Bitcoin blockchain two years ago.

Bitcoin’s Taproot Wizards project is preparing to sell its colorful collection of NFTs that resemble Microsoft Paint-style cartoons of wizards. This auction follows a previous sale of 3,000 NFTs named “Quantum Cats,” which generated $13 million.

The upcoming sale is set to begin on March 25, featuring NFTs priced at 0.2 BTC (approximately $16,000) for buyers on a whitelist. Any unsold NFTs will subsequently enter a Dutch auction.

Moreover, the Taproot Wizards aim to reinstate the OP_CAT feature in Bitcoin’s protocol, an initiative related to the project’s NFT sales.
