Zodia Custody's Chief Operating Officer Samuel Howe Resigns for Traditional Finance

Samuel Howe steps down from his role at Zodia Custody, with Sam Hill taking over as COO.

Overview

Samuel Howe, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Zodia Custody, has recently departed from the company to pursue a role in traditional finance (TradFi). This transition demonstrates the mobility of talent between the cryptocurrency sector and traditional financial institutions.

Sam Hill is set to take over Howe’s responsibilities as COO at the London-based crypto custody firm, having worked with the company for the past 18 months.

Key Points

  • Samuel Howe served as COO for three months, previously holding the position of head of operations at Zodia.
  • CEO Julian Sawyer remarked, “Sam has left the company to go back to traditional finance, showcasing the oscillation of roles and skills between crypto and TradFi.”

Howe’s professional background includes positions at GSA Capital as the head of crypto operations and CoinShares as the head of capital markets operations. He also spent time working at HSBC and Kleinwort Hambros before making his mark in the crypto space. Additionally, Howe co-founded a private crypto hedge fund in 2020, continuing to advise it.

Zodia Custody is backed by significant financial institutions, including Standard Chartered Bank, SBI Group, Northern Trust, and National Australia Bank.
