SEC Crypto Task Force to Host Four Upcoming Roundtables

The upcoming discussions will focus on key topics in the crypto sector.

The SEC’s Crypto Task Force is set to hold four more roundtable discussions this spring, tackling subjects such as tokenization and decentralized finance (DeFi).

These discussions will mark the beginning of what Commissioner Hester Peirce calls the SEC’s “Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity.” The inaugural roundtable was conducted in Washington, D.C., featuring a dozen industry lawyers deliberating on the security status of tokens.

“The Crypto Task Force roundtables are an opportunity for us to hear a lively discussion among experts about what the regulatory issues are and what the Commission can do to solve them,” Peirce stated in a Tuesday announcement.

With a shift away from former Chair Gary Gensler’s approach of “regulation by enforcement,” the SEC is under new leadership, including Peirce and Acting Chair Mark Uyeda, who are eager to establish a better rapport with the crypto industry and provide clearer regulatory directives.

The next roundtable, titled “Between a Block and a Hard Place: Tailoring Regulation for Crypto Trading,” is scheduled for April 11, followed by discussions on crypto custody (April 25), tokenization (May 12), and decentralized finance (June 6). All sessions will occur in Washington, D.C., and feature livestreaming.
