Cardano Foundation Unveils New Identity Protection Tools Amid Data Breach Concerns

The Cardano Foundation has introduced Veridian, a platform focused on managing digital identities securely, alongside the Veridian Wallet.

The Cardano Foundation has launched Veridian, an innovative open-source platform aimed at helping users and organizations manage their digital identities more effectively. This system introduces the Veridian Wallet, specifically designed to protect personal information while enabling users to verify their identities online without the hassle of sharing sensitive data.

As online identity verification becomes increasingly vital and risky, existing systems often expose user data. With smart devices and AI technologies becoming omnipresent, these vulnerabilities are harder to rectify. The foundation highlighted that in the past year, 1.7 billion records were compromised within the United States alone.

“From healthcare and financial services to supply chains and education, identity verification is the foundation of trust,” stated Thomas A. Mayfield, the head of Decentralized Trust and Identity Solutions at the Cardano Foundation. *“Sadly, current solutions frequently lack sufficient security and credential control, often leading to data breaches.”

Veridian allows users to maintain control over their identity verification, utilizing open, shared tools that facilitate legitimate communication and identity checks without intermediary parties. Users can also opt to link their credentials to the Cardano blockchain for additional security. The wallet is adaptable for both individuals and businesses, offering customizable functionalities to meet various needs.
