Protocol Village: Fuel's Rollup Project Gains Recognition with New Mainnet Launch

The latest in blockchain tech upgrades, funding announcements, and deals. For the period of Oct. 17-23.

Fuel Labs, the developer behind an operating system tailored for Ethereum rollups, has rolled out its flagship L2 solution, Fuel Ignition, on the mainnet.

According to the team, "Ignition is designed to tackle increasing centralization in blockchain ecosystems by offering a new high-performance architecture for Ethereum that can run on accessible hardware. The architecture supports parallel transactions, boasting over 21,000 transactions per second (TPS) per core thanks to its innovative virtual machine, FuelVM, and a UTXO-based asset-centric transaction model."

The project documentation elaborates, "We embrace the UTXO model, allowing full Turing-complete smart contracts with persistent storage. Contracts act as inputs for Fuel transactions, enabling varied external functions to be called through ephemeral scripts attached to them. Vitalik Buterin previously highlighted Fuel as one of the only two active stage 2 rollup projects today in a post on X."
