Cardano CEO Discusses Bitcoin Opportunities and Concerns Over Wall Street

Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation, expresses his views on Bitcoin's potential and the influence of Wall Street during a conference in Paris.

During the Paris Blockchain Week on April 10, 2025, Frederik Gregaard, the CEO of the Cardano Foundation, shared his insights on the role of Bitcoin in a rapidly evolving financial landscape dominated by Wall Street. He remarked:

“Wall Street is creeping in on us again, right? It’s sort of coming back. We’re not really letting go of it. And I think that’s a really big shame.”
Translation: Wall Street is slowly re-establishing its influence, which he believes is regrettable.
He emphasized that the original purpose of Bitcoin was to provide economic opportunities to the average person, enabling participation in a financial world previously inaccessible to many.

Gregaard went on to discuss the integration of blockchain technology within the organization:

“Our P&L and balance sheet are on the blockchain. Next, we’re putting all accounting and finance info on-chain too.”
Translation: The profits and losses, as well as the balance sheet, will be recorded on the blockchain, with plans to include all financial data in the future.
While addressing recent developments in regulation, he noted his discussions with policymakers concerning MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets). He expressed concern that regulators are moving too quickly in this regard:

“Certainly most of us here in Paris and Europe, we feel MiCA is coming quite fast, maybe a little bit too fast.”
Gregaard elaborated on the disruptive potential of blockchain technology against traditional financial systems and revealed his aspirations for Cardano to ascend in value alongside Bitcoin in the tech ecosystem.
He pointed out:

“We are now standing on the precipice of something much larger than blockchain and Bitcoin. The question is, what are we going to do about it? Are we going to allow AI to dictate terms?”
Translation: This highlights the looming question of AI’s rapidly growing influence over various sectors.
Gregaard concluded by articulating his vision for a more equitable financial landscape, where access is democratized and not dominated by a select few.
