Texas Congressman Advocates for Crypto ATMs in Federal Buildings

A Texas Congressman proposes the installation of cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings, aiming to align government actions with advancements in digital assets.

A Texas Congressman is pushing for the introduction of cryptocurrency ATMs in federal buildings to support the stance on digital assets championed by former President Donald Trump.

Representative Lance Gooden sent a request to the General Services Administration (GSA), advocating for the strategic placement of these ATMs as a sign of governmental acceptance and innovation in handling digital transactions. He believes this move will signal a commitment to harnessing new technologies in a secure manner.

“Expanding accessibility to crypto ATMs within federal buildings aligns with President Trump’s vision of positioning the United States as a global leader in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.”

Gooden’s recommendations are part of ongoing discussions in Congress regarding the regulation of cryptocurrencies. He encourages the GSA to explore the logistics of this proposal and develop stringent guidelines concerning installation, operation, and transaction transparency.

While traditional ATMs are present in numerous GSA locations, the suggestion of incorporating cryptocurrency ATMs comes amidst growing scrutiny over their use in frauds, leading to legislative movements targeting fraud prevention in this area.

Despite Gooden not directly participating in active crypto legislation discussions, advocacy organizations like Stand With Crypto have recognized his supportive stance within the industry.
