Shaw Walters Envisions an Automated Future Where Jobs No Longer Exist

The founder of Eliza Labs, Shaw Walters, anticipates a world transformed by AI, eliminating traditional jobs as we know them.

Someday, job security will be a thing of the past. This fate awaits everyone, from friends to family members, with every role expected to fall into the realm of automation driven by AI technology. Shaw Walters, the founder of Eliza Labs and the mind behind ElizaOS, firmly believes this impending shift will revolutionize our work landscape.

“We’re going to automate all of the jobs. Every job will eventually be automated,” explains Shaw. “In the future, there won’t be any jobs, and there’s no necessity for them. Any task I can delegate to a robot is beneath my capacity, and I foresee future generations reflecting on our era with disbelief, much like we do about slavery.”

In a keynote during the AI Summit at Consensus 2025, Shaw will delve into this vision under the title, “How AI Agents and Humanoid Robots will Reshape Society…and Why Crypto is the Key.” Here’s a glance into his thoughts.

“I yearn for a future where I can instruct my AI agents to handle coding tasks, liberating me from the constraints of my desk. Why must I be anchored to one spot? I envision navigating my day while my AI companion takes care of all coding responsibilities.”

Shaw emphasizes that automation shouldn’t just halt at coding; within his community of 20 developers, a bot gathers daily updates from team members, consolidating information from various chats into a summarized form.

Shaw’s argument is that, unlike traditional financial systems tied to banks, crypto can simplify transactions for AI agents. Then he questions the essence of work itself:

“Why should we compel everyone to hustle endlessly for money when they could pursue their passions instead? In a world bereft of conventional jobs, discern the wealth accrued by the rich who trade labor for investment.”

This insinuates a future where investors outnumber laborers, creating a financial ecosystem propelled not by work but by investment, leaving traditional jobs obsolete.

The concept raises profound questions about identity and purpose, hinting at an extraordinary paradigm shift echoing through society in the years to come.
