Avraham Eisenberg Sentenced to Over 4 Years for Child Exploitation

Avraham Eisenberg received a 52-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to possessing child sexual abuse materials and was previously convicted of fraud related to Mango Markets.

In New York, Avraham “Avi” Eisenberg, responsible for exploiting the Mango Markets and stealing $110 million in 2022, was sentenced to 52 months in prison following a guilty plea to possession of child sexual exploitation materials, not for his previous crypto theft. The sentencing was given a year after a jury found him guilty of multiple fraud charges related to the Mango Markets incident.

Key Points:

  • Eisenberg’s plea involved charges for possessing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), found on devices post-arrest.
  • He was already convicted last year on wire fraud and related charges regarding his activities with the decentralized finance protocol.

Sentencing Details:

Judge Arun Subramanian noted the proposed sentence of over four years at FCI Otisville, while leaving room for reconsideration on the fraud charges. Despite defense requests for a retrial, the judge emphasized the need for a paragraph of deterrence against distributing CSAM materials. Eisenberg will serve probation with strict conditions after release, including monitoring and outpatient drug programs.
