
Tokyo-listed investment company Metaplanet recently disclosed it has acquired an additional 1,241 Bitcoin (BTC), valued at approximately 18.4 billion yen (around $126 million). This purchase elevates their overall BTC holdings to 6,796.
This recent acquisition places Metaplanet above El Salvador’s total BTC reserves, which currently stand at 6,174 BTC. The latest purchase marks the company’s most significant investment since it initiated its Bitcoin Treasury Operations in April 2024.

Metaplanet maintains its status as Asia’s largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, ranking 11th worldwide as of this announcement.
