
On May 12, 2025, Dubai’s Department of Finance signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Crypto.com to enable cryptocurrency payments for various services through Dubai Pay, the government’s digital payment platform. This collaboration will allow residents and businesses to pay for services, such as visa fees and utilities, using cryptocurrencies.
The pilot program is set to begin later this year.
Crypto.com’s President, Mohammed Al Hakim, stated:
“Today’s announcement represents significant progress for the adoption of digital finance with a comprehensive integration into the layers of government payments.”
(Translation: The announcement marks a crucial step in enhancing digital finance within government operations.)
In 2023, Crypto.com entered Dubai after securing a license from the Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (VARA).
Abdulrahman Saleh Al Saleh, Director General of the Department of Finance, commented:
“We take great pride in Dubai Finance’s key role in driving the Dubai Cashless Strategy and shaping a distinctive digital financial future.”
