Charles Hoskinson aims to end the tribalism in the cryptocurrency sector and plans to distribute Midnight tokens to 37 million wallets across eight blockchains, prioritizing retail users.

“Every Consensus, there’s a new token… running around saying, ‘my thing is better than your thing,’” Hoskinson expressed during his speech at Consensus 2025 in Toronto. He criticized the competitive mentality in crypto, stating that the Nash equilibria are based on competition rather than cooperation.

The Glacier Drop was initially hinted at late last year, and new specifics were shared at the conference. Hoskinson emphasized his decision to disregard traditional venture capital interest in favor of a more principled distribution model.

Midnight is projected to be launched on mainnet by late 2025, with ambitious goals to welcome a broader user base to the cryptocurrency landscape, alongside major tech companies entering the industry.
