Key Highlights:
- Co-founder of Ethereum, Anthony Di Iorio, stated that the technology was not intended to compete with Bitcoin, but rather to serve as an alternative.
- Addressing the audience at Consensus 2025, he reflected on the early days of Ethereum, emphasizing the potential he saw in the project during its inception.
Di Iorio mentioned, “We could sense and feel that it was picking up.”
He entered the cryptocurrency scene through his involvement with Bitcoin, organizing meetups in Toronto back in 2012, which led to his collaboration with Vitalik Buterin, who introduced the Ethereum concept.
Although Di Iorio remains an advocate for Bitcoin, he expressed the belief that Ethereum might surpass Bitcoin in market value eventually, stating:
“With the amount of use cases and the value that Ethereum is allowing to be created, I think it has that opportunity, in order to possibly overtake it.”
After leaving the Ethereum Foundation, he founded Decentral in 2014, recognized for creating the Jaxx Liberty wallet. In 2022, he initiated Andiami, which integrates hardware with tokenomics to enhance decentralized networks.
