Chainlink's First Step into Bitcoin via Spiderchain Integration
Chainlink has made its first integration with Bitcoin through a partnership with the layer-2 network Spiderchain.
Chainlink has announced its integration with Bitcoin for the first time via a collaboration with the layer-2 network Spiderchain. President of Botanix Labs, who is responsible for building Spiderchain, confirms their participation in the Chainlink Scale program, which will provide them with Chainlink's oracle services.
This development is significant as it marks Chainlink's initial foray into Bitcoin, a move designed to enhance Bitcoin's capabilities by aligning it with functionalities present in other major blockchains.
With Spiderchain also adopting Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), token transfers across different blockchains will become possible, further expanding integration opportunities.
As Chainlink provides essential data for smart contracts across various networks like Ethereum and Solana, its entrance into the Bitcoin space may pave the way for new applications on the original blockchain, making it much more competitive with other platforms that utilize advanced features like layer 2s, rollups, and smart contracts.
