Arthur Hayes Predicts Bitcoin Could Exceed $200,000 by Year-End
In a recent interview, former BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes shares his bold predictions for Bitcoin's future, forecasting a surge to $200,000 within the year.
The outspoken former co-founder of BitMEX, Arthur Hayes, has made headlines with his audacious predictions regarding Bitcoin, gold, and even Ethereum. In a recent conversation with Fortune dated May 18, 2025, he asserted that Bitcoin could soar to $200,000 in the upcoming months, potentially by the end of the third quarter of 2025. Hayes speculated that BTC might even reach $250,000 by year-end. Additionally, he maintains his long-term target of $1 million per Bitcoin, aligning with the end of US President Donald Trump’s second term in 2028.
“I think Bitcoin needs to go above $110k and increasing volumes reach $150k-200k. I think that happens sometimes in the summer or early third quarter and then the rotation starts into various altcoins,” expressed Hayes.

Predictions for Bitcoin’s Future
He anticipates a rise in Bitcoin’s market dominance. As trading volumes for BTC spike, Hayes expects a resurgence of altcoins—likely during summer or early third quarter of 2025. However, he cautions that this upcoming altcoin cycle will differ from the dramatic fluctuations seen in 2021. When asked to choose between Ethereum and Solana, Hayes stated he would opt for Ethereum.
Additionally, regarding gold investments, he remarked, “And I still believe that the US is going to revalue their gold holdings much higher to depreciate the dollar against gold. So, I think gold could be $10,000-20,000 by the time we finish with this rally.”
