Launch of Solana's Seeker Phone Set for Early August with SKR Token

Solana Labs has announced the impending release of its Seeker phone alongside the new SKR token, promising to enhance the web3 mobile ecosystem.

What You Need to Know

  • The mobile division of Solana Labs announced plans to start shipping its Seeker phone from August 4.
  • Alongside the phone, Solana will introduce the SKR token as part of its infrastructure enhancement plan.

Previously, Solana’s mobile team divulged that the Seeker phone is expected to have over 150,000 units produced, according to a press release. The development of the Seeker followed the initial model, Saga, which struggled in sales initially but eventually sold out as users capitalized on certain token airdrops.

The team further articulated that the SKR token would play a central role in the mobile ecosystem and empower users, developers, and hardware producers alike, establishing a robust web3 communal economy.

“SKR will power economy, incentives, and ownership across the ecosystem,” stated the Solana Mobile team.

Technical Infrastructure

The network’s structure includes TEEPIN, which stands for Trusted Execution Environment Platform Infrastructure Network. This framework comprises three layers providing a secure interaction space for users, devices, and developers.

“TEEPIN signifies the evolution of mobile technology – a setup where trust is not merely assumed from a central authority but is established through cryptographic means,” shared Anatoly Yakovenko in the press release.
