Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino Discusses U.S. Oversight and Crypto Regulations

Amid rising scrutiny, CEO Paolo Ardoino stated that Tether works closely with law enforcement and respects international sanctions. He reaffirmed the claim that if the U.S. government wanted to undermine their operations, they could easily do so, but emphasized Tether's compliance efforts.

"If the U.S. wanted to kill us, they can press a button and kill us anywhere. We are not going to fight the U.S." (Translation: Si el gobierno de EE. UU. quisiera acabar con nosotros, puede presionar un botón y acabar con nosotros en cualquier lugar. No vamos a pelear contra EE. UU.)

According to Ardoino, Tether's role in illicit finance is minimal, noting that the dollar's involvement dwarfs that of USDT.

Ardoino addressed concerns about a report alleging a U.S. criminal investigation into Tether, asserting that there has been no indication of such an inquiry. He highlighted Tether's collaboration with various U.S. agencies like the FBI and U.S. Secret Service.

The discussion included the potential impact of upcoming elections on digital asset regulations, with Ardoino expressing hope that regardless of the outcome, the new administration will recognize the importance of cryptocurrencies like USDT.

As Tether navigates these complex dynamics, it remains a cornerstone of the crypto ecosystem, facilitating liquidity across various trading platforms.
