A prominent Democrat in the House of Representatives, Jamie Raskin, is calling for transparency regarding President Donald Trump’s recent dinner for significant investors in his memecoin, inviting over 200 attendees. Raskin, along with fellow Democrats, expressed concerns about the appropriateness of Trump not revealing these investors, many of whom are believed to be foreign entities.
Raskin has formally requested Trump to disclose the guest list and clarify the sources of the funds used to invest in the TRUMP coins to avoid any illicit foreign benefits that could emerge without congressional oversight. He stated:
“I write today to demand that you release the names of all the attendees at this dinner and provide information about the source of the money they each used to buy $TRUMP coins, so that we can prevent illegal foreign government emoluments from being pocketed without congressional consent.”
Raskin further emphasized the necessity of knowing who is gaining access to the president and the legitimacy of the funds being received. In this context, he pointed out Tron founder Justin Sun, an early investor in Trump’s family crypto ventures.
