MoonPay Achieves Significant Licenses for Operations in New York

MoonPay has secured a BitLicense and a money transmitter license from the New York State Department of Financial Services, marking a crucial expansion of its regulatory approvals across the U.S.

MoonPay, a prominent provider of cryptocurrency payment solutions with over 20 million users, has successfully acquired a BitLicense and a money transmitter license from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). This notable achievement completes MoonPay’s regulatory presence across the United States, backing up existing licenses in 46 other states as well as registrations in countries like the UK, Australia, Canada, Italy, Ireland, and Jersey.

The NYDFS endorsement is highly regarded as a benchmark in the cryptocurrency sphere, and it comes shortly after MoonPay established a new headquarters in New York City, which is now its largest U.S. office.

“As a U.S.-founded company with a headquarters in New York City, we’re immensely proud of this milestone and look forward to our continued collaboration with regulators across the nation to make crypto accessible to everyone,” said Ivan Soto-Wright, MoonPay’s co-founder and CEO.

Key points to note:

  • MoonPay’s BitLicense approval enables extensive operational compliance in the U.S.
  • The company’s proactive growth has resulted in rapid developments, including its new corporate headquarters.
