EasyA Announces Plans for an Even Larger Hackathon Following Remarkable Success at Consensus 2025

Over 1,000 developers participated in the largest blockchain hackathon in North American history, with plans for expansion next year.

The EasyA Consensus Hackathon was held from May 14 to 16 in Toronto, becoming the largest blockchain-related hackathon in North American history. Its organizers, brothers Phil and Dom Kwok, are looking to expand the event significantly next year in Miami.

Highlights

  • The hackathon featured over 1,000 developers, all vetted through their GitHub and LinkedIn profiles to ensure a proven coding background.
  • The event’s potential prize includes millions in funding from blockchain networks such as Aptos, Stellar, and Polkadot.

One highlight at the conference was news that Universal Studios invited one of the winning projects, ApTap, to present to its executives in Florida. “That was crazy,” remarked Phil Kwok.

EasyA, known for its extensive developer community, has organized over 30 hackathons since its inception in 2019.

Notable Winners

  • ApTap: Best project on the Aptos track.
  • CycleBuddy: Top project on Stellar for tracking menstrual cycles.
  • Sutanpu: Polkadot’s winner for who enables travelers to mint NFTs.
  • NameVault: A decentralized naming service celebrated on the Bahamut track.

The winners are expected to receive ongoing support to continue developing their projects.

“Developers don’t just come to these hackathons to win prizes. Our aim is to encourage long-term contributions to crypto,” stated Dom Kwok.
