XRP Ledger's EVM-Compatible Sidechain Set to Launch in Q2

The XRP Ledger's Ethereum-compatible sidechain is slated for launch, promising significant growth and new opportunities for developers.

The XRP Ledger’s (XRPL) Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible sidechain is slated to launch in the second quarter of 2025.

Key Highlights:

  • This move was confirmed during the APEX 2025 conference held in Singapore, where it was revealed that the extensive testnet for the XRPL EVM sidechain has been witnessing impressive growth.
  • EVM compatibility allows for the seamless execution of Ethereum-based decentralized applications and smart contracts.

“87 new entities – with no prior XRP involvement – are now contributing to the ecosystem: infrastructure, apps, and demand generation,” noted Peersyst Technologies. “When the mainnet goes live, all of it becomes part of the XRP ecosystem – this could be the largest onboarding in XRP history.”

The EVM sidechain will enable users to engage in yield generation through decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including liquidity pools and smart contract interactions.
