VMS Group to Invest Up to $10 Million in Cryptocurrency for the First Time
The Hong Kong family office VMS Group aims to diversify its investment approach by entering the cryptocurrency market with a substantial allocation.
VMS Group, a Hong Kong family office managing nearly $4 billion in assets, is making its debut in the crypto world as reported by Bloomberg.
The firm plans to allocate up to $10 million to investment strategies administered by Re7 Capital, a hedge fund specializing in decentralized finance (DeFi), according to partner Elton Cheung.
Cheung mentioned that VMS aims to diversify into investments that are more liquid, marking a shift from its traditional focus on private equity, which has seen decreased liquidity as companies tend to remain private for extended periods.
He also highlighted the clearer regulatory landscapes for digital assets in various jurisdictions and the increasing demand from institutional investors as motivating factors for this move into cryptocurrency.
VMS’s decision comes as it seeks new avenues for investment, distinct from its previous strategies heavily reliant on private equity.
