Digital Asset Secures $135 Million for Privacy-Centric Blockchain Development

Digital Asset has raised $135 million in funding led by DRW Venture Capital and Tradeweb Markets to enhance its privacy-focused blockchain, the Canton Network.

Digital Asset, the architect behind the privacy-centric blockchain named Canton Network, has successfully raised $135 million in a recent funding round spearheaded by DRW Venture Capital and Tradeweb Markets.

The funding round attracted not only major names from traditional finance and cryptocurrency sectors, but also prominent organizations like BNP Paribas, Circle Ventures, Citadel Securities, and Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC).

Key Information:

  • Digital Asset’s Canton Network has emphasized privacy functionalities to appeal to enterprise users, including banking sectors.
  • The network has previously partnered with financial institutions like Goldman Sachs and BNY Mellon to trial real-world assets (RWAs) on its platform.

“Everyone can connect to Canton, but when I want to launch an asset, I can choose its privacy features,” said CEO Yuval Rooz. “You can create completely private assets on the same network which are imperceptible, or have assets with no privacy akin to Ethereum.”

The recent funding is poised to amplify the integration of RWAs on the Canton Network, which currently encompasses various categories such as bonds, alternative funds, and insurance products.

Don Wilson, CEO of DRW, asserted, “With trillions in real-world assets pouring into the Canton Blockchain, this funding enriches the company’s pace and solidifies Canton as the leading standard in global collateral flow.”
