Andreessen Horowitz Contributes $23 Million to Fairshake for 2026 Midterm Elections
Andreessen Horowitz donates to the crypto super PAC Fairshake, aiming for a significant influence in the 2026 elections.
The 2024 U.S. presidential election isn’t concluded yet, but intently focused crypto firms have started their fundraising efforts for the 2026 midterm elections.
Venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (also known as a16z) has contributed $23 million to the pro-crypto super political action committee (PAC) Fairshake for the upcoming midterm election cycle, as stated in a blog entry by Chris Dixon, a partner at a16z and the leader of its crypto division.
"Regardless of the outcome of the 2024 elections, we’re dedicated to supporting policymakers, regardless of party, who will strive to create a workable regulatory framework protecting consumers while enabling the industry to flourish," Dixon stated.
Following a16z's latest donation, Fairshake and its associated PACs — the Democrat-leaning Protect Progress and the Republican-leaning Defend American Jobs — possess $78 million for the 2026 midterm elections. Crypto exchange Coinbase recently pledged $25 million to Fairshake, and a spokesperson from Fairshake indicated the organization currently holds "$30 million in the bank."
Notably, both Coinbase and a16z are recurrent contributors to Fairshake, which amassed over $200 million during the 2023-2024 election cycle. Coinbase stands out as the largest donor: its recent pledge pushes its aggregate contribution to nearly $100 million. A16z's fresh commitment raises its total to about $60 million to Fairshake.
Ripple, another significant donor to Fairshake, has previously given $50 million to the PAC. Inquiries regarding future donations from Ripple for the 2026 elections went unanswered.
Additionally, other crypto firms such as Jump Crypto, Circle, and Kraken have also contributed to Fairshake and its affiliates.
