Bitvavo Successfully Acquires MiCA License in the Netherlands

The company joins others like Kraken, Coinbase, and Bybit in obtaining licenses to operate in the European Economic Area.

Bitvavo has secured a Markets in Crypto Assets License from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), allowing the company to operate in the 30 countries within the European Economic Area.

In a statement, Mark Nuvelstijn, CEO and co-founder of Bitvavo, remarked, “This license provides clarity, confidence and enables Bitvavo to fulfil its ambition: to become the leading digital asset trading platform in Europe.”

Alongside its license in the Netherlands, Bitvavo has already registered in several countries such as France, Austria, Italy, and Spain. This expansion reflects the ongoing regulatory developments and the push towards unified standards within the EU’s crypto market.
