BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF IBIT Exceeds S&P 500 ETF Annual Earnings

BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF IBIT outstrips the S&P 500 ETF in annual revenue generation, showcasing a significant demand for Bitcoin investments.

BlackRock’s Bitcoin ETF, identified by the ticker IBIT, has surpassed the annual revenue of BlackRock’s flagship S&P 500 ETF (IVV), despite having fewer assets under management. This surge is notable as it points to growing institutional interest in regulated Bitcoin investments.

A Bloomberg report from July 2, 2025, highlighted that IBIT’s higher expense ratio of 0.25% enabled it to outpace the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF, which charges only 0.03%. This pricing strategy, combined with increasing investor enthusiasm for Bitcoin as an investment asset, has established IBIT as a lucrative revenue source for BlackRock.

“IBIT overtaking IVV in annual fee revenue reflects escalating investor demand for Bitcoin and considerable fee reduction in traditional equity investments,” stated Nate Geraci, president of NovaDius Wealth Management, in an interview with Bloomberg.

IBIT is expected to generate upwards of $187 million annually in fees.

Additionally, a report from Standard Chartered suggests that Bitcoin may target a price of $200,000 by late 2025, indicating that if realized, the attractiveness of spot Bitcoin ETFs like IBIT could further increase.
