Silent Data Marks a Milestone as First Privacy-Driven Layer 2 to Join Ethereum Superchain

Silent Data has become the first privacy-focused layer 2 to be integrated into Ethereum's Superchain, aiming to enhance blockchain applications without compromising sensitive data.

Key Information:

  • Silent Data has become the first privacy-centric Ethereum layer 2 integrated into the Superchain.
  • This new layer 2 is undergoing trials by companies such as Tokeny, Archax, Shell, and CRYOPDP (a division of DHL Health Logistics).

Silent Data, developed by Applied Blockchain, has emerged as the pioneering privacy-focused chain to enter Ethereum’s Superchain network, as announced in a press release on Wednesday.

Built on the OP Stack, this London-based initiative is crafted to facilitate blockchain applications while keeping sensitive data hidden, incorporating what it refers to as “programmable privacy” alongside enhanced scalability, performance, and compliance with regulations.

The OP Stack powers the Optimism blockchain and promotes a stronger integration within a broader Layer 2 ecosystem.

Context on Layer 1 and Layer 2 Networks:

A Layer 1 network serves as the fundamental layer, while Layer 2 represents sets of off-chain systems that leverage Layer 1.

The Superchain consists of over 30 Layer 2 networks, including Coinbase’s Base, OP Mainnet, Kraken’s Ink, and Uniswap’s Unichain.

Silent Data stands out by introducing a privacy framework, allowing sensitive operations to run on-chain while maintaining transparency and composability. Its tools are not just for its own structure but can also be employed by other Superchain layer 2 projects looking for enhanced privacy solutions in their blockchain infrastructures.
