Scroll DAO to Temporarily Halt Governance Process Amid Leadership Changes

The Scroll DAO is postponing its governance activities as it undergoes a redesign towards a more centralized system due to recent leadership resignations.

The Scroll decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) is set to “pause” its governance process following recent leadership resignations and confusion surrounding live proposals. Key members discussed this matter in a delegate call on Wednesday.

A DAO operates under blockchain protocols instead of a centralized authority, with rules encoded into smart contracts. Members hold tokens, allowing them to vote on matters like funding projects and modifying features.

What to Know:

  • Scroll DAO is pausing its governance process due to leadership resignations and confusion regarding live proposals.
  • The governing structure is undergoing redesign, leaning towards a more centralized approach.
  • While governance proposals remain live, their implementation is uncertain.

According to a post by delegate Olimpio, co-founder Haichen Shen indicated that the governance redesign is underway. Raza, another contributor, emphasized that this is a delay and not a complete termination of operations.

“Today: Scroll DAO 馃摐 governance is to be ‘paused’… governance proposals are still active, ongoing.” (Olimpio)

Delegates represent the interests of those who wish to avoid tracking every decision closely. Individuals may delegate their voting power to trusted members instead.

It remains unclear if active proposals will be honored, including a significant treasury management plan. Following significant leadership changes, materials from the Scroll team reflect uncertainty over which proposals are current or have received prior approval. Scroll has requested additional time to organize everything before announcing the next steps. The governance framework remains in flux, trending towards increased centralization.

Despite the ongoing changes, Scroll’s SCR tokens have seen a rise of 3% in the last 24 hours, reflecting a general market increase, although they are down 75% from their peak in December.
