Aave Explores Community Feedback for Possible Launch on Bitcoin Layer 2 Spiderchain

Aave is evaluating community interest in deploying on the Bitcoin layer 2 solution called Spiderchain, highlighting the need for expanded functionality in the DeFi space.

Aave, the largest decentralized finance (DeFi) lending platform, is canvassing its community regarding the interest in deploying on the Bitcoin layer-2 network Spiderchain.

The Aave-Chain Initiative (ACI) has made a call for comments in response to a proposal from Spiderchain developer Botanix Labs. This move aims to integrate more than $17 billion in total value locked within the Bitcoin DeFi ecosystem.

The initiative signals growing enthusiasm for enhancing the functionality available on Bitcoin, bringing it in line with the broader crypto ecosystem. The price of Bitcoin recently peaked above $90,000, hitting an all-time high of $93,445, with its crypto market dominance reaching 61.38%. This surge has prompted developers from other networks to tap into the considerable reserves held in BTC.

Developed by Botanix Labs, Spiderchain is designed to work seamlessly with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) protocols, allowing Ethereum-based applications to interact with Bitcoin. Following community feedback, ACI will assess potential security risks but has yet to provide a timeline for the process.

After this recent price surge, Aave's native token (AAVE) saw a slight decline, dropping just under 8% to around $168, aligning with a broader market pullback.
