Elon Musk to Launch Grokipedia Beta in Two Weeks

Musk's xAI is set to unveil the beta for Grokipedia, a Wikipedia alternative, in two weeks to combat misinformation.

Elon Musk announced that the beta version of Grokipedia, xAI’s response to Wikipedia, will be available in two weeks to address misinformation and half-truths.

Musk made this announcement via a post on X, stating that the “version 0.1 early beta” will be launched in a fortnight. He initially revealed xAI’s plans for Grokipedia on September 30, asserting it will provide a significantly improved alternative to Wikipedia, highlighting that it’s a necessary step toward understanding the universe.

In the context of Grokipedia, Musk mentions that the system will be an open-source knowledge repository. The idea for Grokipedia came during a live summit with David Sacks, who suggested that Musk should create such a service. Musk agreed to take the proposal to his team.

Musk’s Discontent with Wikipedia

Musk has had an ongoing disagreement with Wikipedia, criticizing it for hosting misinformation and claiming political bias in its editorial practices. Notably, he once joked about paying $1 billion to change the name of Wikipedia to Dikipedia as a comment on its alleged biases.
