Critical Alert for Shiba Inu (SHIB) Users: Stay Safe from Scammers
A warning issued to Shiba Inu community members about phishing scams targeting SHIB holders.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) boasts one of the largest communities in the cryptocurrency world. However, this popularity unfortunately attracts frequent scams targeting its members.
Current Situation
Shibarium Trustwatch, a Twitter account that alerts the SHIB community about potential risks, recently reported that genuine Shiba Inu tokens have been mistakenly sent to users’ wallets. Unfortunately, scammers have included a misleading note, urging recipients to visit a suspicious website to ‘claim rewards’.
This situation exemplifies a phishing scam. The message prompts victims to connect their wallets to a counterfeit site, where fraudsters can drain their assets.
“The site is not associated with the official Shiba Inu ecosystem. Connecting your wallet may lead to stolen assets or security breaches.”
The advisory stresses the importance of ignoring any unsolicited messages about token names or airdrops, avoiding unknown websites, and verifying details from official Shiba Inu sources. Reporting suspicious activities is also crucial to protect the community.
Previous Warnings
Earlier in the year, the same group cautioned that fraudsters had created fake accounts on Twitter, posing as SHIB supporters while promoting unrelated tokens. These scammers exploited HypeIt, a platform designed for community engagement on Shibarium.
Additionally, a clarification was issued regarding the LEASH token associated with Shiba Inu, confirming it is not available on the Solana network and remains an ERC-20 token.
